Caswell House Wedding Photography in Oxfordshire: I’d been really looking forward to this one. I’d heard lots of great things about this hidden away gem of a wedding venue and after seeing it for myself when I first met up with Martin and Ellie a year ago, I was a big fan too: a honey coloured Cotswold stone barn with pretty, secluded gardens and a small lake (with perfect-for-posing bridge!) was always going to get a big tick from me.
Ellie had chosen to get ready in the adjacent cottage so that’s where I began. There was a nice steady stream of friends and rellies popping in during the morning which kept things lively, interesting and fun and, I think, Ellie’s nerves at bay! We were all getting a bit worried about the rain and plan B was decided upon as a result – an indoor ceremony in the barn as opposed to the courtyard garden which was already looking a little soggy and sorry for itself. Didn’t matter a jot though as it turned out – the barn had real character and Ellie looked beautiful.
During the wedding breakfast, I took myself off outside, making a mental note of the spots I thought would work best for Ellie and Martin’s photographs together. I had a few ideas…
So dinner over and time for everyone to head outside in to the fresh air. Caswell House had provided some nice props in the form of Giant Jenga and a croquet set and while these were being put to good use, I grabbed the two of them and off we headed; first, to the private garden followed by shots around the pretty lake and bridge. Considering we’d not done a pre wedding shoot, I was very impressed with how quickly they felt at ease in front of the lens. Naturals!
After some fun party shots and with my first Caswell House wedding in the bag, it was time to head home. Ellie and Martin were such a lovely couple and a joy to spend the day with and I was thrilled I was able to capture so many nice moments for them from their wedding day.
Can’t wait for the next one…
