Kingscote Barn: Best Alternative Wedding Venue – I’m lucky to live in a part of the world that is not only very easy on the eye but is also home to some of the best wedding venues in the county. Handy that! So what makes an alternative wedding venue? To me, it must offer something unique – both inside and out – and, importantly, provide a blank canvas to its couples so that they can make their own wedding day look and feel completely unique.
Kingscote Barn today is actually borne out of the vision of its current owners who in 2003 began work converting the rustic old farm buildings into something for the 21st century: a wedding venue. The 12th May 2007 was their first wedding and with well over 1,000 weddings under their belt, they’re now amongst Gloucestershire’s most popular barn wedding venues. So why do I rate it as one of the best alternative venues for wedding photography? Quite simply because it ticks so many boxes…
- It’s quintessential Cotswolds! Lambs roaming about in the fields, rolling hill views to die for, Cotswold stone…tick, tick, tick
- If you are having a winter wedding – or if your summer wedding day weather isn’t playing ball – then the ceremony room indoors is so gorgeous and with its pretty honey-coloured Cotswold stone walls reflecting the light perfectly as well as loads of window light too, you are guaranteed to look your very best in your photographs
- Winter, Summer, Rain, or Shine. I’ve shot many weddings now at Kingscote Barn so know its location hot spots very well and it just works: whether it is a gloriously sunny day with everyone outside or a cozy winter one in, it always delivers. In fact, some of my favourite couple shots are when the skies have been dark and dramatic or the mist has been covering the landscape. If photography is a big part of your day then don’t worry about the weather. Really. Kingscote Barn is a proper ‘wow’ shot venue
If you’ve already chosen to get married here then you’ve made a perfect choice but if you’re just starting to look then I’d really recommend you put it on your list of venues to check out. And if you’re next step is choosing your photographer then I’d be very happy to show you around too – I’m just five minutes up the road…
In the meantime, here is a selection of shots I’ve taken there to show you why I’m such a fan.
