Best of 2019 – A Wedding Photography Year in Review: So I was sitting here a few days before Christmas with the task of putting together my 2019 Wedding Photography Year in Review with the year’s favorite smile-inducing moments and wow shots and it occurred to me that although shooting a wedding comes with bucket loads of responsibility, trust me when I say nothing frazzles you brain more than shortlisting nineteen thousand eight hundred and nine priceless moments in to just under one hundred little nuggets of joy. Every year it’s “that one…no, that one…or maybe that one…” until finally it’s done. And what doesn’t change also are the really cool and lovely people each year that choose to entrust me with capturing their most special of days.
I got to enjoy a few new wedding venues too: Frampton Court, Hilles House and Temple Guiting Manor…just wow. Doggie ring bearers were out in force too (as a dog lover, long may that continue…), Matara Centre tree plantings (what a brilliantly unique thing and so lovely to be back there this year) and en masse professional first dances (actually quite cool…) kept me smiling along the way.
And a huge thank you too goes to Will, my (much more than an) assistant/second shooter/wingman extraordinaire for helping to keep this swan calm and serene while his little legs paddled away frantically! We had fun Big Man.
Finally, I’ll never stop being amazed and genuinely touched too by the number of heartfelt “thank you’s” I receive. Being a wedding photographer is so much more than just rocking up with a fancy camera and lenses and technical know-how. For ten hours or so you’ve got to give so much of yourself too to create the magic and when this is recognised it really is a great feeling. In fact here are a few lines I received from people shortly after me sending out their pictures…
“Hi Ian,
Just Wow. These are absolutely brilliant. We just relived the whole day! Not only have you captured gorgeous shots of us but the pictures of our guests are beyond what we had hoped for. It’s all there. There were so many facets to the day that are captured, thank you so much. It was such a pleasure having you there and you guided us through everything seamlessly – the weather seems to have worked in our favour in many of these!
Thank you again, we couldn’t have been in better photographic hands.
P & H”
And a few more…
“Hi Ian
Thank you so much! We absolutely love them.
The photos and the experience so far has made us absolutely sure that we have picked the best photographer to have at our wedding… we are clearly in very talented hands!
Best wishes
Deborah and Joe”
So to all my couples in 2019…thank you. What fun we had. And if you do happen to be looking at this review, are planning your wedding for this year or the next and like what you see then please do get in touch – I’d love to help.
Happy New Year!
