Wotton House Wedding Photography: My second visit to Wotton House and what a corker of a day – Alex and Dave I know were praying for lovely weather so that they’d be able to make the most of the wonderful grounds for their photographs: they were not to be disappointed. We’d all first met here last year for their pre-wedding shoot so were very familiar with the house, it’s surroundings and the stunning pictures we could achieve on the day if we went for it. Knowing the two of them now as I did I knew this would be a piece of cake as they were such delightful company and genuinely seemed to enjoy being in front of the lens – what a joy!
So, first things first and the day started with Alex, Mum, bridesmaids, etc getting ready in the house. Lot’s of people coming and going made this a fun, frenetic morning and the shots of the children were particularly lovely. Dave arrived so I managed to steal away for a while to get a few relaxed shots at the bar (where else!) before catching Alex putting the final stages together for her transformation in to stunning bride. Then it was down to the gorgeously decorated ceremony room (it really is a beautiful place) to await Alex’s arrival…
Following lots of laughs and plenty of tears during a ceremony full of emotion, it was outside on to the terrace to bask in the sunshine before the all important group pictures as well as the shots of the two of them together which I was very keen to make sure we allowed plenty of time for. It’s fair to say that being fifty feet up in the air perched on top of a roof taking the large group shot definitely had me out of my comfort zone but it was worth it and I know the two of them were thrilled. Wotton House is such a special place when it comes to opportunities for outside pictures, weather permitting of course. We really worked hard to achieve a wide range of shots using all that there was to offer – it really was like a work out at the end and a drink was definitely in order once we’d finished.
The evening too went with a bang and because so many friends and family were within the one room (such a good idea to ask for a temporary bar in the party room) I was able to cover off a lot within a very short space of time, getting plenty of pictures of Alex’s Granddad who was a star and who I really enjoyed sitting down and chatting to. A lovely man.
This was always going to be a brilliant day. Alex and Dave’s natural warmth, love for each other and sheer go for it attitude took care of that and it was an honour being there to capture their wedding for them. It’s very hard to condense the day down in to a few memorable pictures but I’ve done my best – I hope you like them…
