Wedding Photography at Clearwell Castle: Earlier this year on a bright summer’s day in June, I had the pleasure of photographing Jess and Shaun’s lovely wedding at Gloucestershire’s award winning wedding venue, Clearwell Castle.
Sitting here typing this on a gloomy, typically Cotswoldy autumn afternoon, it’s a far cry from the warm, sunny gorgeousness Jess and Shaun had (seemingly paid extra for) on their wedding day. Clearwell Castle is pretty spectacular whatever the weather but on a day like this and with Shaun earning himself a lifetime’s supply of Brownie points by arranging a surprise horse drawn carriage to take Jess to the church, this was always going to be a wedding photographer’s dream. One of those days where you literally could just point, shoot and smile…
The day started at the castle: Jess getting ready in the sumptuous bridal suite while Shaun and the lads were a short walk away in the adjacent cottage. Nice and easy to walk between and capture those fun getting ready moments of which there were many.
The ceremony was held at the local church which again made for a few great shots of the guests walking down through the tree lined avenue to take their seats in time for the ceremony. Jess followed shortly after in the wonderful horse drawn carriage with her proud dad at her side. Even the local donkeys in the adjacent field took the time to watch this one!
This was one of those days where as a reportage wedding photographer I was spoilt for choice: the speeches were funny, the grounds looked stunning and it’s fair to say Jess and Shaun scrubbed up pretty well too. I can’t have done too bad a job either as Shaun, in his inimitable way, chose to tell me after…
“Ian – bloody brilliant photos mate!
We are both so happy with them!
Couldn’t have asked for anyone better!
Thank you so much!
Again thank you so much Ian!”
As you’ve probably gathered, I’m rather fond of these two so here are a few of my favourite moments from my day at Jess and Shaun’s Clearwell Castle wedding. Hope you like ‘em…
