The Bear of Rodborough Hotel Wedding
Lucy called me needing a Gloucestershire wedding photographer to photograph her wedding reception at The Bear of Rodborough Hotel and prior to this, her wedding service at the beautiful Holy Trinity Church in the village of Slad, made famous by Laurie Lee’s “Cider with Rosie”. Lucy and her fiance, Simon, really lucked out with the weather with one of the sunniest and warmest September days on record: so much for Summer weddings! The Holy Trinity Church in Slad is gorgeous and characterful but very, very dark towards the front so I had to be careful with my exposures, especially as the sun was beaming in through the back of the church and I didn’t want everyone in silhouette!
After a delightful ceremony, a few group shots in front of the Church and a quick drink in The Woolpack (Laurie Lee’s favourite pub…), everyone made their way up to the Bear of Rodborough Hotel on Rodborough Common for the wedding reception. Lucy and Simon wanted some shots out on the common so off we headed and half an hour later we had some great shots in the bag. The Bear of Rodborough is a perfect wedding venue – having undergone recent refurbishment, it has great outdoor space and the common just up the road where you really can get some amazing wedding pictures.
Lucy and Simon were so lucky to have had such wonderful weather and their smiles throughout the day really showed how much they were enjoying their special day.
