Matara Centre Wedding Photography in Gloucestershire: “Hi Katy, I’m Ian…your wedding photographer!” Not my usual wedding day introduction admittedly but Katy and Mike both live in Australia and this really was our first opportunity to meet! Glad to say Katy and Mike were a delight and after our initial hello’s (in separate parts of the building of course…) I was left to my own devices to capture the day.
The Matara Centre is such a cool place. I’d shot here earlier in the year and love the variety that if offers as a wedding venue – traditional colonial house, quirky bits (including a full sized wooden giraffe…) as well as beautiful grounds and views. We’d also lucked out on the weather but more about that later…
After the usual controlled chaos of the morning, the ceremony seemed to be upon us in next to no time and was held inside because it was a bit too chilly to use the pretty water featured courtyard area favoured by summer Matara Centre wedding couples. It was quite touching watching Mike really take his time over his vows and also watching one of their friends giving a brilliant virtuoso vocal performance during the signings, Very impressive indeed.
So back to the weather…
Katy had said that she’d give anything to have snow at her wedding. Especially given that they’d come 3,000 miles for the privilege and it was December after all. Well they’d already been very lucky earlier in the day with sunshine and blue skies so imagine our astonishment when a few hours later the white stuff started falling from the skies! It probably only lasted for about twenty minutes but it was enough to make Katy and Mike’s dream wedding complete.
Although I hadn’t met Katy and Mike before, it felt otherwise and I really enjoyed being amongst them and their friends and family on what was a quite magical day.
Here is a selection of pictures from their day for you to enjoy…
