Best of 2024 – A Wedding Year in Review: As sure as eggs is eggs, whittling down a year of eclectic wedding pictures in to one bite sized blog is no mean feat. Way back in the day, I tried to make a yearly review a ‘best of’ which was a bit of a head fry so now I’ve let it simply put the pin on the donkey’s tail with a random mix of happy little moments in gorgeous locations: no particular order or theme, just me, my style of shooting and the lovely people who happened to be there with me on the day at these gorgeous places.
2024 did bring along a few new newbies that I’d not shot at before (Cherwell Boat House, Blackfriars Priory and Charingworth Manor…) and of course the many familiar Gloucestershire wedding venues too that I know so well and love to bits. I’m occasionally asked if I ‘get bored’ shooting at the same places but when Berkeley Castle, Owlpen Manor and Kingscote Barn are on that list and a mere stone’s throw from me then…well nah.
Things I noticed? Well definitely more dogs for a start. I’ve got a rescue dog and a Spanish water muppet so I always love the chaos a Labrador ring bearer brings to the occasion (I’ll never forget the one who legged it as the ceremony was about to start with the wedding rings tied to his collar…). People like Chris at Short Legs Dog Care certainly help make this possible (and bearable for the couple!) and long may it continue.
So thank you to everyone who got their faces on the end of my lens last year and wishing you all – and of course my future stars of this year – a joyous, healthy 2025! I hope you enjoy this little set of last year’s nuggets of joy and a big thank you to everyone in them for making the cut.
And finally a few recent words from one of my happy couples…
“Ian was recommended to us by our venue, Owlpen Manor, for our wedding, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
Professional, and fun from start to finish, Ian captured all the key moments of the day. Great fun to have around and a local chap who knew all the best shots and lighting to use.
Very prompt in sending us so many photos very quickly. We were immensely impressed and it was a privilege and a pleasure to have Ian with us, thank you!”
