Barnsley House Wedding Photography: My second wedding of 2014 and what better place to be than at beautiful Barnsley House, a chic boutique hotel a stone’s throw from Cirencester. I’d first met my bride and groom (Liam and Louise) at Barnsley House towards the end of last year where they told me that their wedding was going to be an intimate occasion with a small gathering of immediate family and close friends only. Knowing Barnsley as I do, they’d made a perfect choice.
Louise and Liam had both booked themselves in the night before so getting the shots of the two of them getting ready on the day was easy – just a quick walk between Louise’s Rosemary Verey bridal suite (Roemary was an internationally known garden designer who’s work in the 1950’s had helped shape the look of its wonderful gardens today) and Liam’s room in the main house.
The Rosemary Verey suite is exquisite and was a lovely place to start the day. Having got a number of detail shots of the house and grounds, I first dropped in on Louise for the all important pictures of her dress, shoes (Jimmy Choo’s – what else!). jewellery, etc. Then it was off up to say hi to Liam and his best man and generally capture the lads being lads moments!
In next to no time at all, I was in the pretty ceremony room (the wedding was due to be outside at the temple but the elements conspired against us…) with Liam and the guests and this is where the fun started…
Now I don’t usually set light to myself minutes before a bride’s grand entrance but this day was going to be the exception. A combination of getting too close to a window sill tea light and too much man made fibre in my jacket I reckon. Liam, who’d been looking a little nervous immediately prior to my “show” was now in hysterics, as were most of the guests, and thanked me for helping settle his nerves. The things you do…
From then on, everything went perfectly. The ceremony was followed by drinks and candid pictures in the adjoining lounge and then it was back to the Rosemary Verey suite – now converted in to a gorgeous, candle lit dining room – for the wedding breakfast. Full marks to Nathalie and the team at Barnsley House: they’d pulled out all the stops and the room looked quite magical. I made sure that I got as many shots as possible using the available light while still firing off a few frames with flash to provide a nice contrasting set of images.
Liam and Louise were a delightful couple throughout the whole of their wedding day and really just let me get on with the job in hand. I’m of course thrilled that their wedding pictures are all they could have hoped for (they told me) and can’t wait to head back to Barnsley House for my next wedding.
Here is a small selection of pictures from the day…
