Off to Wales this weekend for Glenn and Sharon’s St Pierre Hotel and Country Club Wedding…
Life’s funny isn’t it? Living in Acton W3, I make a strategic business decision to target weddings in Surrey and West London and to focus my website on this and then what happens? Three weddings in Essex, Buckinghamshire and Wales on the trot! Still, all great people, and I must say I enjoy working at new venues as it keeps me on my toes. Back to Surrey next week though and The Lensbury Club in Teddington so watch this space…
I was asked by a very good friend of mine, Richard Blake, who happens to be one of the country’s finest sports photographers, to double up on Glenn and Sharon’s wedding at the St Pierre Hotel & Country Club in Chepstow. Rich knew Glenn through work but recommended me to the bride and groom as someone with a good eye for both classic wedding portraiture as well as the fly on the wall long lens shots. We got to the venue early and had a good look around and realised we were spoilt for choice for great outdoor location shots – a nice situation to be in. Rich spent his time with the bride while I took some detail shots – shoes, dress, flowers, etc – and then headed for Glenn’s room where he and the best man were getting ready. A few very funny moments – and pictures – with the two of them and then off to get prepared for the wedding ceremony.
I’ve been capturing weddings for a number of years now but I can honestly say I’ve never had two people in front of the lens who were as natural and funny as Glenn and Sharon! I think most people who are getting married are unaware (and to be fair, why would they be?) of how important their own ‘performance’ in front of the camera is in achieving great wedding pictures. Throughout the whole day, Glenn and Sharon – apart from obviously being brilliantly matched – worked the camera like true pro’s and got some great pictures as a result. This wedding was a wedding photographer’s dream – St Pierre Hotel & Country Club is a beautiful place; we had fabulous weather and I had a bride and groom to die for. As result, Rich and I finally put our cameras down at about 11 and headed for an extremely well earned beer at the bar!
