Gail and Michael’s Osterley Park Wedding
Having grown up in Osterley and spending many hours in Osterley Park playing with mates, riding my Raleigh Chopper through the woods and picnicking after school with my family, it felt like a real homecoming being asked by Gail and Michael to be their Osterley Park wedding photographer!
The day began at Gail’s mum and dad’s for the bridal preparation shots – everyone was really relaxed and taking shots was a breeze with plenty of smiles from Gail and her delightful bridesmaids. The wedding ceremony was taking place at Our Lady of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Greenford, so after an hour or so of family pictures and detail shots, it was off to the church to meet Michael and to photograph the guests arriving.
Gail and Michael were so lucky with the weather: this really was a glorious sunny September day and the inside of church was bathed in natural light, perfect for natural, ambient lit wedding photographs. The service went without a hitch and included some wonderful unplanned, bursts of laughter from the bride and groom!
And so to Osterley Park, one of West London’s hidden treasures and a stunning wedding venue. With venues and grounds as beautiful as Osterley Park, there are always so many opportunities to get great shots that the hardest decision can sometimes be choosing which ones! Gail and Michael had chosen a marquee wedding so after drinks on the courtyard, the releasing of doves on the steps, a few group shots and those all important pictures alone with the bride and groom, we all headed to the marquee for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.
As always, some of the most memorable (and certainly most fun!) pictures are to be had after the speeches when people can truly relax and enjoy themselves. I stayed taking pictures way in to the evening and was glad to capture some well rehearsed dance moves from Gail, Michael and lots of their friends!
It was wonderful to spend the day in a place which holds such fond memories and especially nice to be in the company of two charming young people starting their married lives together.
