Tortworth Court wedding photography: I shot a couple of weddings last year at Tortworth Court and, with its stunning grounds and private lake, I was certainly eager to get back there for Dani and Martin’s April wedding.
First things first…the wedding ceremony was actually held in nearby Wotton under Edge and although I was politely reminded of the “no photography from the front of the church” rule by the vicar upon my arrival, we were more than compensated for by the wonderful wide shots from the back of the aisle of Dani, Martin and everyone present in this lovely church. In situations like this though, I’ll just switch over to a long lens as it’s amazing how many intimate moments are still able to be captured.
After a wonderfully colourful confetti procession, it was off to Tortworth Court on what was turning out to be a perfect sunny, Spring Day. When the weather is this good it does make my job so much easier: everyone is smiling and relaxed, the backdrops are wonderful, no need for flash…you get the idea. The group shots with the spectacular views are especially lovely at Tortworth so brides take note…
Dani and Martin were especially keen of course to get a few shots of the just the two of them within the landscaped gardens. We’d already got all of the nerves out of the way at a pre wedding shoot a month or so earlier so this was all about having fun while looking gorgeous at the same time (them not me…!). Time didn’t allow a trip to the lake on this occasion but Tortworth Court does have a very pretty arched walkway which at this time of year is at its most green and leafy and so a few shots inside was an absolute must.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of shooting a wedding is how, as the day progresses, people just come up and chat about all sorts of things. It was particularly lovely too to receive a heartfelt hug and a thank you from Martin’s mum at the end of the day. It was also very rewarding to receive a message from these two shortly after receiving their images to tell me how thrilled they were with them and to thank me for all my hard work (I do work hard!). Thank you guys…
